Mona Jo Folmar, 77, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012 after bravely battling cancer.
She was born to Luel and Blanche Rash on Sept. 28, 1935 in Eureka. She attended Mildred High School and married her high school sweetheart, Rexie Folmar on Oct. 2, 1953. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary and were still very much in love. Their marriage is a true testament of God’s design for marriage, commitment, and sacrificial love for one another. It was very, very rare to ever see one without the other!
Mona loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Mildred Baptist Church. She lived a life wrapped in the love of Jesus. Her family cherishes the memories of her strength and faithfulness, which was rooted in Jesus’ faithful love for her.
She was active in her community and, along with Rex, could be seen every Tuesday and Saturday at the Corsicana Farmer’s Market over the past 26 years. Mona Jo worked for many years at Texas Miller and Haggar Slacks. She and Rex also enjoyed woodworking, crafts, and painting.
Mona Jo lived a full life and loved her family. She was known to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Granny.” She was so very proud of her family and could often be heard bragging on her three children and their families. Often times at the Farmer’s Market you could hear her say to her friends, “You know I gotta brag on my kids, so come sit down next to me.”
Her great strength and determination enabled her to remain here on earth with her family over the past few years as her health declined. She left this world peacefully to see the Lord face-to-face and begin her eternal life in Heaven.
Mona was preceded in death by both of her parents, Luel and Blanche Rash; and brother, Dale Rash.
Survivors include her husband, Rexie Folmar; sister, Jean Casey; brother and sister-in-law, Max and Robbie Rash; and sister-in-law, Louise Rash; son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Ginny Folmar; daughter and son-in-law, Gene and Rhonda Gardner; son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Tracy Folmar; grandchildren, Laura and Stuart Smith, Bethany and Josh Martin, Emily and Nolan Nahidi, Lance and Michelle Gardner, Logan Gardner, Megan Folmar, Hunter Folmar, and Houston Folmar; great-grandchildren, Gabe, Ruby and Julia Gardner, Lily and Walker Smith, Brady and Allison Martin, Ella and Gracie Nahidi; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at Corley Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 19, 2012 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Neal officiating. Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery. Pallbearers are Lance Gardner, Logan Gardner, Hunter Folmar, Stuart Smith, Josh Martin and Nolan Nahidi. Honorary pallbearers include Gabe Gardner, Brady Martin and Walker Smith.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at 1000 W. 2nd Ave, Corsicana, Texas.
