— Jackson Chaney, formerly known as Douglas Jackson Cocke, of Southlake, Texas passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 at age 56.  

He was born in Dallas on Aug. 21, 1955, and lived in Corsicana until the age of nine when he moved to Dallas with his family.

He was a 1973 graduate of Trinity Christian Academy. He received a BBA in Accounting with honors from Texas Tech University in 1977 where he was the president of his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon. He earned a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1980. He began practicing law with Thompson, Coe, Cousins, and Irons of Dallas and later became a partner in that firm. Thereafter, he was a partner in Chaney & Lane and practiced business immigration law.

Jackson was preceded in death by his father, Robert R. Cocke III; and grandparents, Lillian and Robert R. Cocke, Jr. and Brandon and James Truman Bragg.

He is survived by his children, Jarod Kincade Chaney and Whitney Elizabeth Chaney of Southlake; parents, Eleanor and Richard Parker Jr. of Dallas; brother, Dr. Robert R. Cocke IV and wife Mary of Austin; sister, DeMaret Cocke Childress of Fort Worth; identical twin brother, James Truman Chaney of Austin; nephews and niece, Robert Robinson Cocke V of Austin, Kathryn Eleanor Childress and David Robert Childress Jr. of Waco; aunt, Marian Bragg Wheelock of Corsicana; cousins, Tad and Lillian Wheelock of New Braunfels, Ty and Ellen Wheelock Willis of Austin, Susan and Richard Donnelly Jr. of Austin, David Preston Donnelly of Houston, and Miriam and Robert Wilson Waddell Jr. of Houston.

Jack, your family and friends join together to say we miss you, and we love you so much.

A Memorial graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at Oakwood Cemetery with Father Edward Monk officiating.
