Tommy R. Watkins

 Tommy R. Watkins, 85, passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Country Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Corsicana.

He was born Aug. 30, 1927, to John William Watkins and Monnie Lou Huffstutler Watkins in Corsicana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.

He is survived by his son, Steve Watkins and wife Carol of Corsicana; his daughter, Rebecca Kragh and husband Mark of Katie; granddaughter, Brittany Kragh of Katie; and brother, Carmack Watkins.                                                        

He retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after 20 years of service. He and his wife, Edith, attended First Baptist Church in Corsicana. He was very proud of the years he spent operating heavy equipment. He could often be found working on the family farm in Black Hills in his younger years and in his later years in his garden that surrounded his home in Corsicana. He loved being out with nature and spending time with is his best (four legged) friend, “Pepper.” Most of all he loved spending time with his family and pets.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Corley Funeral Home.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel in Corsicana with the Rev. Elvin Sikes officiating. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery.
