Mrs. Ruby May Compton, 71, of Corsicana passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at her residence in Corsicana.
She was born March 14, 1941, in Memphis, Texas, to parents Murry and Vera King.
She was a loving wife to Bobby for 54 years and a compassionate mother to Ronnie. Ruby was also a loved grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a devout Christian who lived her entire life with the single goal of doing God's will. This is illustrated by the fact she born a preacher’s daughter, and died a preacher’s wife. She will be remembered for her loving smile and generous heart. She will be missed by all who knew her, and will forever be loved by those closest to her. While we mourn the passing of Ruby, heaven rejoices at the arrival of a faithful Christian soldier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Marvin and Willard King.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, the Rev. Robert A. Compton Jr.; son, Ronald Glenn Compton and wife Tammy of Tucson, Ariz.; granddaughter, Lynsi Dawn Compton Attardi and husband Johnny of St. Roberts, Mo.; great grandchildren, Madison and Nathan Attardi of St. Roberts, Mo.; brother, James King and wife Linda of Houston; sisters, Mary Louise Robertson of Cedar Hill, Shirley Buckner and husband William of Duncanville, and Joyce Boaz and husband Charles of Corsicana; sister-in-law, Zertie King of Mansfield; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Corley Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Trinity Assembly of God Church with the Rev. James Williams and the Rev. Lester Foreman officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
