Terry Knox Tate

Corsicana —



Mr. Terry Knox Tate, age 64, of Corsicana passed away at his residence Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013. He was born May 12, 1948 in Corsicana to Ollie Knox Tate and Janice Culberson Tate.

He worked as a counter at the Navarro County Association of Disabled Citizens for over 30 years. Terry was a charter member and co-founder of the organization. He loved spending time with the members of the Special Ministries Class at First Baptist Church. He was an avid reader of the Bible and loved his time spent at church. He loved sports and won many medals in the Special Olympics. Terry also enjoyed listening to rock and roll music, especially Elvis and was well versed in movie and television history. While attending Corsicana High School he was very active in the 4-H Club.  

He was preceded in death by his father, O.K. Tate, step-father, Cecil Bailey and sister, Mary Tate Sanders.

He is survived by his mother, Janice Tate Bailey; brother James Glen Tate and wife, Kay; nieces: Caron Burris and husband, Keith, Kimberly Benefield and husband, Phillip and nephew, James Cosco and wife, Linda; great nieces; Courtney, Emma and Madison Burris; Tiffany, Ashley and Angel Benefield and Haley Cosco and great nephews; James Cosco IV, Patrick and Ryan Slifer.   

  Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Danny Reeves and Rev. B.F. Risinger, Jr. officiating. Members of the Special Ministries Class of First Baptist Church of Corsicana, Gene Weber and Frank Brown will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the Special Ministries Class at First Baptist Church, 510 W. Collin Street, Corsicana, Texas 75110.

    She worked as a bookkeeper for 35 years at Watson Truck & Supply in Hobbs, N.M. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church.
