David Lee Washington Sr., 56, was born on April 20, 1953, in Kerens to Prezell and Lillie Mae Washington. He left his earthly body on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at his home in Corsicana.
David received his formal education at Kerens Independent School District and then entered into the United States Air Force. He worked with Big Brown Mining for 13 years and retired. David was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.
He met and married Ardell Glenn on March 13, 1972, and to this union five children were born.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Ann Washington; parents, Prezell and Lillie Washington; three brothers and one sister.
Those left to cherish his loving memories include his wife of 37 years, Ardell Glenn Washington; one son, David Jr. (Angela); three daughters, Audrey Michelle Washington, Erica Washington and Remmia Wafer; nine grandchildren, Adam, Shequita, Nodia, Rodrick, Miranda, D’Avian, Micah, Jamoyah and Da’Kaylyn; two sisters, Christine Griffin (Lee) and Annie Jones (James); eight brothers, James T. (Audrey), Ross (Christene), J.T. (Mary), John L. (Mary), Pete (Mary), Nathaniel (Gail), Ivory Charles, and Lewis (Cherie); three sisters-in-law, Judy Washington, Frances Randall and Linda Washington (Willie); 13 stepbrothers and stepsisters; five aunts, Alice Brooks, Zorine Martin, Laura Mae Washington, Annie Mae Harris and Anna Rose Jones; one uncle, Harvey Duncan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ross and Johnson Mortuary.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at New Bethel Baptist Church, 700 Elm Flat Road, Kerens, with Pastor Earnest Betts officiating. Interment will follow at Samaria Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his brothers.
