Carolyn Fondren Humphries, 69, of Dawson passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009, at a Corsicana retirement home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church in Dawson. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 19, at First United Methodist Church of Dawson with the Rev. Michael Redmond officiating.
Carolyn was born Dec. 26, 1939, in Corsicana to Charles Lloyd and Livie Beatrice (Berry) Fondren. She lived most all of life in Dawson and was a registered nurse who served as director of nurses at the Hubbard hospital and later at Wortham Nursing Home. Carolyn enjoyed cooking and reading and was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Dawson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Humphries in 2001.
Survivors include a son, Charles “Chuck” Humphries and wife Susana of Dawson; four daughters, Lisa McKinney of Dawson, Kris Thomas and Glenn French of Silver City, Erin Dyer of Corsicana and Tara Springer and husband Randy of Corsicana; 16 grandchildren, Charlie, Corey, Casey, Eddie, Kara, Marcus, Katie, Monique, Miranda, Kent, Dalton, Chelsea, Alyssa, Stoney, Ryon and Seth; and six great-grandchildren, Cadence, Fynn, Monte, Justin, Brailey and Schylar.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny McKinney, Steve McCormick, Daryl Reeder, Mike Reeder, Brian Prater, Gary Humphries, Tony Melton and Billy Wise.
