Charles Dee Jackson
Chapel services for Charles Dee Jackson Jr., 94, of Longview are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at Tyler Memorial Funeral Chapel, 12053 State Highway 64 West, Tyler, with the Rev. Wylie Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at Tyler Memorial Park.
Mr. Jackson was born May 22, 1915, in Rome, Texas, to the late Charles D. Sr. and Fannie Polk Jackson and passed away Monday, July 27, 2009, in Longview. He had lived in Tyler since 1946, was a 32nd degree lifetime member of Masonic Lodge #1233, served in the U.S Marines during World War II, was a professional pilot, an air traffic controller at Pounds Field for 20 years, a member of Tyler Aero Modeling Club and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Gertrude Odom Jackson; and a granddaughter, Deadra Miller. He is survived by sons, Charles Glenn Jackson and wife Alex of Seabrook and Mack Jackson and wife Sandie of Mena, Ark.; daughter, Frances Brewer and husband Melvin of Henderson; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Stover of Plano; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at the Tyler Memorial Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Matt Jackson, Steve Brewer, Jason Brewer, Roy Nixon, Arden Miller and Jeff Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Brannon Jackson, Keith Bailey, Gene Webb and Gary Hummel.
