Kay Hammonds Hooser, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at the age of 75. She was a very giving mother, a devoted wife, and a wonderful doting grandmother. Kay was a blessing to everyone she met and she can easily be described as a loving, humble servant. Kay was born Feb. 22, 1934, to Zebby and Ethel Green Hammonds. She was raised in the Lone Cedar Community. Kay attended school in Lone Cedar, Avalon, Hamrock and was an honor graduate of Italy High School in 1951. She worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Dallas for 13 years. On April 13, 1963, Kay married Jimmy Hooser of Frost. She was a member of Frost Baptist Church since 1965.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Hammonds; and sister, Mrs. Genece Gorman. Kay is survived by her husband, Jimmy Hooser; son and daughter-in-law, James and Lisa Hooser; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Will Adamson; and her loving grandchildren, Carly, Samuel, Andrew and Caroline; sister, Jan Wolaver of Italy; brother-in-law, Buddy Gorman of Rankin; half-brother, Zeb and Ellen Hammonds of Montice, Calif., two aunts, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Frost Baptist Church with interment to follow at Frost Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Frost Baptist Church, Frost Cemetery, or to the Diabetic Association.
