Jimmie W. Rutherford

Jimmie W. Rutherford, 89, of Corsicana passed away on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, in Corsicana. He was born on Aug. 18, 1920, in Pursley.

He was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force retiring as a chief master sergeant after 26 years of service to his country. He later worked at and retired from TSTI in Waco.

Mr. Rutherford was preceded in death by his parents, Odie Henry and Lula Mae Rutherford; brothers, Odie “Red” and Willis “Cotton” Rutherford; and a sister, Dorothy Conger.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Rutherford of Corsicana; daughter, Linda Rutherford of Corsicana; sons, Tommy Rutherford and wife Patricia of Waco and Hank Rutherford and companion Mercy Arellano of Cleburne; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ira Hugh “Pee-wee” Rutherford and wife Barbara of Canton and Willard “Doc” Rutherford and wife Jewell of Kerens; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Mahoney officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Rutherford Jr., Sean Rutherford, Jonathan Rutherford, Steve Wilson, Eddie Wilson, Gary Jones, Rob Shane, and Lance Rutherford.
