Janis Marie Batts

Janis Marie Batts, 64, of Wortham, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at First Baptist Church of Wortham with the Rev. Steven Schulte officiating. Interment will follow at Wortham Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Porter Chapel in Wortham.

Janis was born on April 7, 1945, to Robert James Price Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Mathison Price. She was married to Mike Batts and was the longtime bookkeeper for the family business, Batts Brothers Air Conditioning.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Batts; and her parents.

She is survived by her son, Scott Batts and wife Mary of Wortham; daughter, Teresa Pena and husband Joe of Hopewell, Va.; brothers-in-law, David Batts and wife Judy of Tehuacana and Don Batts and wife Marilyn of Saline, La.; sister-in-law, Tammy Ruth Batts of Mexia; honorary daughter, Brandi Lawless of Wortham; grandchildren, R.J. and Maura Batts of Wortham and Joe Michael and Kristina Pena of Hopewell, Va.; brother, Gene Price and wife Alice of Wortham; and nieces and nephews, Jack Price, Rodney Price, Eric Batts, Pep Batts, Hillary Chandler, Rhonda Garrison and Patti Batts.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Price, Jack Price, Pep Batts, Eric Batts, Owen Morgan and Jeremy Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Cameron Price, Corey Price, R.J. Batts, Maura Batts and Miranda Price.
