Through December

Corsicana Fire Department will accept new unwrapped toys through Christmas for its 23rd annual Christmas for Kids. The toys will be given to The Salvation Army for distribution. If so desired, financial donations will also be accepted to purchase toys for the children. Drop-off locations will be at the city’s four fire stations: 200 N. 13th St., 310 S. Second St., 2212 W. Second Ave., and 3009 N. Beaton St. For more information, call Dickie Mullenix or Diane McGraw at (903) 654-4956.



Dec. 13

Corsicana High School Choir will have a fund-raiser from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Bookstack, 1427 W. Second Ave. The Bookstack’s sales made that day will go to the choir. Choir students will also be selling hot chocolate and cookies. Proceeds will go toward the choir’s spring break trip to New York.



Chatfield-Tupelo Community Center will have its annual Christmas party and covered dish supper at 6 p.m. Bring your favorite dish and come for a good time and great fellowship. Bring a white elephant Christmas gift (no more than $10) wrapped any way you please. This exchange is always entertaining. Also, the center will sponsor a family from the community in need for the holidays. Donations appreciated. Donations may be mailed to P.O. Box 70, Chatfield, TX 75105.



Through Dec. 15

Frost PTO is sponsoring an Angel Tree in the Frost Elementary School foyer. Each angel is numbered and has the age and gender of a child and an item to purchase. If anyone would like to take an angel from the tree, come by the Frost school tax office and leave your name and phone number next to the number of the angel that you have taken. Angels attached to the wrapped item need to be returned by Dec. 15. For more information, contact Becky Melton at (903) 682-2711, Ext. 229.



Dec. 15

Navarro County A&M Club will have its fifth annual Christmas party from 6 to 8 p.m. in the large dining room at Napoli’s. There will be guest speakers, chocolate and wine tasting, entertainment by Kevin Painter and Santa, and a man’s and woman’s Aggie ring will be given away. Cost is $10 per plate. Current A&M students are free. Reservations required, and reservations will be billed if unable to attend. Proceeds will go toward scholarship funds. Dec. 16

Kerens Masonic Lodge will be dark.



A retirement reception will be held for Brenda Duncan and Darrell Raines from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Cook Center. You are invited to join the Navarro College family as these two longtime employees are wished well in their retirement.



Dec. 18

Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas will host a “Workforce Center Orientation” at 10 a.m. and a job search workshop on “Interview Tips” at 10 a.m. at its office, 720 N. Beaton St. “Basic PC Skills” training will be offered at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call (903) 874-8276.

Navarro College PAL organization will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Cook Center on the Navarro College campus. All senior citizens are invited to attend. Bring a covered dish and come enjoy food, fellowship and meet new friends. The very talented Zanada Tally will sing a medley of Christmas songs for enjoyment. Come celebrate the holiday season.



Dec. 22

Emhouse Community Center will meet at 6:30 p.m. You are invited to come and bring a finger food, a new, unwrapped toy for Corsicana Fire Department’s Christmas for Kids, and a $5 gift for exchange.

Barry Masonic Lodge will be dark because of Christmas Eve.

Winkler Masonic Lodge will be dark because of Christmas Day.

Navarro College SBDC will sponsor a basic workshop on how to start a small business from 10 a.m. to noon at the Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce, 120 N. 12th St. The workshop will be free. Jan. 13

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave., Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28, 1961, and May 7, 1975, or in any duty location between Aug. 5, 1964, and May 7, 1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with application and dues. Members and guests are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.



Corsicana Emergency Corps, 416 S. 12th St., will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. The general public is invited to attend. Monthly meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month. For more information, call (903) 872-5072.
