Warehouse Living Arts Center Theatre, 119 W. June 15

Faith Outreach Christian School will have an open house from 7 to 9 p.m. at Faith Outreach Family Church, 300 N. Overlook Drive, Kerens. The school is currently enrolling children in first through 12th grades. Curriculum is computer-based and custom-tailored for each child. Teaching staff will be on hand during the open house. Application deadline for the Tressie Lacy Langston Memorial Scholarship is June 15. Navarro County high school seniors or college students, and high school seniors or college students of former Navarro County 4-Hers and Home Demonstration Club workers are eligible. Applications are available from counselors’ offices of high schools in Navarro County, Texas AgriLife Extension office at the Navarro County Courthouse, or the Boys and Girls Club of Navarro County. Corsicana Public Library, 100 N. 12th St., will have its children’s summer reading program at 11 a.m. Maricela Allish will be bringing “Maricela and Friends” to perform in the library’s Civic Room. June 19

Miss Juneteenth Pageant, sponsored by Jackson Ex-Students Association, will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Drane Intermediate School Auditorium, 100 S. 18th St. There will be drawings for door prizes. All proceeds will go to the scholarship fund. Admission cost will be $3 per person.



June 20

Angels of Corsicana will meet at 9 a.m. at 1020 N. Business 45. If you have items to donate for supporting the U.S. troops, please bring to the meeting or you can drop items off at the American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce will have a barbecue cook-off beginning at 10 a.m. at Bunert Park. Judging will begin at 2 p.m. Registration deadline is June 12. Come for a day of fun, food and fellowship. Don’t forget your chairs, sunscreen, umbrellas, etc. For a $2 ticket, you may sample barbecue and vote for your favorite. Homemade desserts and other refreshments will be available. There will be children’s events, entertainment, arts and crafts, information booths on other community events. Jackson Ex-Students Association and Corsicana Area Coalition will have its 21st annual Juneteenth parade. Participants are asked to report in front of Brookshire’s promptly at 9 a.m. for line up and the parade will begin at 10 a.m. For more information, contact Tinnis Manning at (903) 872-4319.



Corsicana High School volleyball players will be having a fund-raiser from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Italian Villa Restaurant, 510 N. 24th St. Money raised will help with the students’ expenses at UT Austin Volleyball Camp in July.



“When Love is Not Enough” will be performed at 7:02 p.m. at the Corsicana High School Auditorium. Doors will open at 6 p.m. The provocative, ridiculously hilarious, cutting-edge gospel dramedy that deals with many issues plaguing young people was written by Chyna Robinson, who has extended family roots in the Corsicana area. Starring in the cast will be Corsicana’s own identical twins Monét and Maurié Chandler among many others. Navarro County Republican Women’s Organization will meet at noon on the seventh floor of the Bank of America building, 100 N. Main St. The speaker will be Natosha Moore. She was a mental health specialist, who was assigned to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in 2005. Everyone is invited. Reservations are needed for lunch, which will be $7. Bike night will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sonic Drive-In, located at South U.S. Highway 287 and Interstate 45. All local riders are invited to cruise in. Bike nights will be held the fourth Tuesday of each month.



June 23-July 2

VOICE will offer the Texas Youth Tobacco Awareness Program, a state-approved program for minors charged with attempted purchase, consumption, or possession of tobacco and is designed to the mandates of Texas law. VOICE staff is certified to facilitate this program. The class will be an eight-hour program divided into four two-hour sessions. This session will be June 23, 25 and 30 and July 2. Two separate sessions will be offered on these dates. One will be offered from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the other from 4 to 6 p.m. Participants are required to attend all sessions. Blooming Grove Elementary PTO’s deadline for ordering school supply packets will be June 26. Packets will include basic school supplies such as pencils, pens, notebook paper, glue, etc. for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Packets will not include pencil boxes, facial tissue, or other special items the teachers may request. June 26-27

VOICE will present the play “Marriage is Murder,” a comedy by Nick Hall, at 6:30 p.m. at the Kerens Legion Hut. This will be VOICE’s third annual Kerens fund-raiser. David Ross and Gina Dieterichs will star in the play directed by Barbara Latta. Tickets are $15. Advance tickets will be needed. Tickets will include a dessert intermission and a short auction. June 27

Texas Youth Ranch Association Rodeo will be held beginning at 9 a.m. at the Navarro County Exposition Center, located on State Highway 22, Corsicana. The event will be free to the public. You are invited to come, watch, and have fun.



End of the Road Music Festival will be held from 1 to 11 p.m. at the Fullerton-Garitty Park amphitheater. Bands featured will be The Back Road Society, Stones of Rome, Iron to Ashes, Sanateria, Endless Sky, and many more. This is a chance for young ones and anyone else who would like to participate in giving back to the community. All proceeds/donations will be given to The Salvation Army and the Navarro County Food Pantry. Join in for a variety of music, fun, and a chance to help out the community. Please bring canned food items — the more, the better. Please bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. No alcohol or drugs allowed.



June 27-28

Navarro Amateur Radio Club will participate in “Field Day” which is designed to test amateur radio operators’ abilities to set up and operate portable stations under emergency conditions, such as the loss of electricity. This year’s Field Day will be held at the Rice High School stadium, located on Interstate 45 (take Exit 242). Set up will be from 8 a.m. to noon June 27. Radio operation will be from 1 p.m. June 27 through 11 a.m. June 28. The public is invited to come out and watch the demonstrations and make a contact on a radio if desired. June 28

St. Elmo Cemetery Association will meet at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church for a service followed by a catered lunch on the cemetery grounds. After lunch, a business meeting will be held. Million Mile Monday is calling all riders to join in for the Million Mile Monday ride to roll toward the five million mile mark. Riders will meet at the Northside Baptist Church parking lot near the youth building and cruise out at 5:30 p.m. and ride to the Yellow Rose in Gun Barrel City. Ride safe. June 29-July 2

The Navarro College 2009 Math, Science and Technology Academy will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 29 through July 2. Students, ages 13 to 17, will experience an all-day academy that will include field trips and hands-on classes. Cost is $60 which includes lunch, snacks, T-shirt and other surprises. Registration now is at the Drane Science Hall, Room 115, on the Navarro College campus, and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Blooming Grove Fourth of July parade will be held at 11 a.m. in downtown Blooming Grove. Lineup will be in the Blooming Grove High School parking lot between 10 and 10:30 a.m. Floats, horses, cars, bicycles, four wheelers, motorcycles, fire trucks, etc. are welcome. July 7

Corsicana Chapter No. 118, Order of Eastern Star, will hold a stated meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Corsicana Masonic Lodge. A potluck supper will be served at 6:30 p.m. Linda Puckett, grand examiner, District One, will be providing a program on patriotism. All area OES members are invited. Black Hills Cemetery Association will meet at 5 p.m. at Watkins Trophy Room, and the public is welcome to attend. There will be a Christian comedy program, followed by a light supper, homemade dessert and drink at $6 for adults and $3 for children 8 and under. Homemade cakes, cookies, canned goods, arts and crafts will be for sale. Also, you may try to win a quilt during the quilt raffle. Tickets are $1 each. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave., Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28, 1961, and May 7, 1975, or in any duty location between Aug. 5, 1964, and May 7, 1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with application and dues. Members and guests are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.
