Nov. 21
Navarro College Theatre Department will present a one-hour, family-friendly performance of “The Big Black Dog” and other true stories from childhood in the Black Box Theatre, located on the second floor, east wing, of the Albritton Building on the college campus, at 2 and 7 p.m. Free admission. A ranch sorting will be held at Lonestar Cowboy Church, 4495 W. State Highway 22, to benefit Johnnie B. McLain, who was injured Oct. 31 while unloading a four-wheeler, when he was hit by a truck which left the roadway. Family Story Hour will be held at 10 a.m. at the Richard M. Sanchez Library, located at the north end of the Navarro College campus, presented by Dr. Ruth Penque. The theme will be “Put on Your Cowboy Boots.” Guests are invited to dress in keeping with the theme. Children must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. No reservations are needed. Chatfield Volunteer Fire Department will have its annual bazaar from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the fire station. There will be crafts, baked good and cookbooks for sale.

Locally produced items of all tastes, textures, shapes and sizes will be offered at a winter farmer-rancher market in downtown Corsicana from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays Nov. 21 and Dec. 5 and 12. Expect to find fall and winter crops, ranch and dairy products, baked goods and homestead arts, all under one roof at Howard’s Paint and Body, 311 N. A food drive will be held at Walmart and the big brown boxes are at the store’s entry points. Suggested items include peanut butter, canned vegetables, cereals, dry beans, boxed meals, dry rice, helper meals (i.e. Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper), macaroni and cheese, canned meats, cornbread mix, rice, canned tuna, beans, canned spaghetti, canned chili and canned fruits. Angels of Corsicana, a troop support group, will meet at 9 a.m. at 1020 N. Business 45. This will be the last packing for the troops before Christmas. Everyone is needed and welcome. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave., Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28, 1961, and May 7, 1975, or in any duty location between Aug. 5, 1964, and May 7, 1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with application and dues. Members and guests are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.

Under the direction of Cranston Dodds, two Warehouse favorites — Gary Douglas and Frank Means — will create the entire population of Tuna, Texas in a “tour de farce” of quick change artistry, changing costumes and characterizations.
