A food drive will be held at Walmart and the big brown boxes are at the store’s entry points. Suggested items include peanut butter, canned vegetables, cereals, dry beans, boxed meals, dry rice, helper meals (i.e. Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper), macaroni and cheese, canned meats, cornbread mix, rice, canned tuna, beans, canned spaghetti, canned chili and canned fruits. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1009 will meet at 7 p.m. at Sirloin Stockade, 2508 W. Seventh Ave., Corsicana. Membership is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between Feb. 28, 1961, and May 7, 1975, or in any duty location between Aug. 5, 1964, and May 7, 1975. The veteran must submit a copy of his/her DD Form 214 along with application and dues. Members and guests are invited to come early and eat and visit prior to the meeting.
