GC Volleyball Weekend Roundup: Frost stays hot

Lady Polar Bears sweep Covington in three sets

Dakota Lassetter had two kills, 14 assists, three digs and four aces as Frost beat Covington 25-17, 25-23, 25-17 on Saturday.

Alexya Steels had four aces and a kill. Hillaree Schwartz had six kills and six assists. Jae Moore had 12 kills and six aces, five of them in the second set when she served Frost (6-7, 2-1) from a 2-2 tie to a 13-3 lead.

Rice tops Quinlan Ford: Paige Allen had eight kills, six blocks and five digs as the Lady Bulldogs lost to Quinlan Ford 16-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-22 on Friday night.

Celina Smithers had nine kills, five blocks and three aces for Rice (10-7). Sarah Gent was 13 of 13 serving with 13 assists, three saves and a kill.  Sadie Gent was 15 of 15 serving with nine digs, three kills, four saves and a block.

Kerens rallies past Dawson: Kerens lost the first two sets, then roared back for a 22-25, 22-25, 25-12, 25-22, 15-13.

For Kerens (12-7, 3-0), Marqueshia Kelly had eight kills and two blocks. Breanna Wells had 10 kills and three blocks. Taylor Ames had four kills, a block and 12 assists. Tinesha Tolliver had four kills and two blocks. Keenya Brown had a kill and a block. Brittany McClure had six assists.

For Dawson (7-8, 1-2), Demi Dotson had 12 kills, six digs and an ace. Courtney Warren had three kills, three blocks and 10 assists. Stormi Matthews had 10 digs. Kaylee Martinez had four kills, four digs, nine assists and two aces. Jalyn Miller had seven kills, two digs, a block and an ace. Michaela Greer had two kills, four digs, two blocks and four aces. Steph Lindsey had a kill, a dig, a block and three aces.

Hubbard beat Cross Roads: The Hubbard Lady Jaguars (12-16, 1-2) won their first district game, beating Cross Roads 17-25, 25-16, 25-13, 26-24 on Saturday.
