Betts rushes for 220 yards as Kerens blasts Grand Saline 52-20

KERENS — — The Kerens Bobcats amassed 522 total yards of offense tonight as they strolled their way to a big homecoming win over the Grand Saline Indians to improve their record to 2-2 on the season.

Super sophomore QB Nate Betts dazzled the overflowing crowd for 220 yards on 11 carries to lead all Bobcat rushers. Betts lead a powerful ground attack that came out with a full head of steam rushing for 266 first-half yards.

Ravon Faulk started the scoring onslaught for the Bobcats scoring from 49-yard scamper virtually untouched down the left sideline. Grand Saline looked to be ready for a toe-to-toe battle scoring on their next 7-play possession that saw Cody Mercer scamper in the endzone for a 33-yard TD to knot the score up at 6-6. Both Kerens and Grand Saline missed their PAT’s.

After the intial Indian score, the Bobcat Defense came alive forcing the next 3 Indian drives to 3-and-outs. Not one, but all of the Bobcat Defenders were swarming the Indians running and passing game forcing the Indians to retreat to their locker room down 32-6 at the half.
