Arlington —
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers have placed second baseman Ian Kinsler on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left groin.
The move Thursday came a day after Kinsler sat out a 3-1 loss to the Oakland A's. He started the season on the DL and missed the first 22 games with a high ankle sprain sustained in spring training.
Kinsler is hitting .298 with six home runs and 38 RBIs in 76 games.
To replace Kinsler, the Rangers purchased the contract of first baseman/outfielder Mitch Moreland from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Texas made room for Moreland on the 40-man roster by transferring reliever Mark Lowe to the 60-day DL.
