Navarro baseball: Bulldogs lose to Howard on wild pitch

No. 16 Bulldogs fall in 10 innings to No. 6 Hawks

PASADENA — Sixth-ranked Howard scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th for a 5-4 victory over No. 16 Navarro on Friday afternoon in Pasadena.

Navarro (3-4) has lost two of three games so far at San Jacinto. They’ll wrap up the Houston-area trip against Howard (2-5) at noon Saturday.

The Bulldogs rallied for a run in the top of the ninth to force extra innings Friday afternoon. Mason Salazar had the RBI single to tie it.

Navarro had only four hits and left five men on base. Clint Wilson took the loss with two wild pitches in the bottom of the 10th.

Grayson 4, Navarro 3: Navarro left-hander Chad Young pitched six shutout innings in Thursday’s second game of the day, but the Bulldogs lost 4-3 to No. 7 Grayson Country.

Navarro third baseman Tyler Wilson had three hits. Catcher John Clay Reeves was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Campbell Cooper also had two hits.

Jovan Hernandez and Jack Moffit each gave up two runs in relief.

Moffit was a hard luck loser as the Bulldogs, up 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth, made two errors on routine ground balls to lose the game.
