— The Tigers missed out on a chance to clinch a playoff spot Friday night in the Piney Woods. They'll get another chance against Lindale on Tuesday.
The Tigers led briefly in the second half, but couldn't withstand Nacogdoches' press in a 53-43 loss on Friday night that leaves Corsicana in a fourth-place tie with the Dragons.
Corsicana (21-10, 3-6) can still clinch a playoff spot with a win at home against Lindale coupled with a Whitehouse win over Nacogdoches. If both Corsicana and Nacodogches win or lose, they'll have a fourth place playoff game later enxt week. The only way the Tigers can be eliminated from the playoffs is they loss and Nacogdoches wins.
The Tigers led briefly in the third quarter, 28-26, on a layup by Ernest McGhee midway through the third quarter. But Austin Willeford scored 10 straight points to give the Dragons an eight-point lead and the Tigers were behind the rest of the game.
Corsicana did pull within 51-48 with two minutes left in the game, and Mike Lewis missed a 3-pointer to tie. Willeford answered by making a 3-pointer for a 6-point lead and the Tigers never recovered.
