HS Girls Hoops Playoffs; Ames scores 28 in Kerens win

LadyCats knock off Grapeland 76-59 in area round

FAIRFIELD — Taylor Ames scored 28 points and Cambree Betts added 19 points as the No. 5-ranked Kerens LadyCats opened the playoffs with a 76-59 victory over Grapeland in a Region III-1A DI area round playoff game in Fairfield.

Kerens (26-5) will play No. 8 Slocum in a regional quarterfinal game at 7 p.m. Tuesday night at Tyler Junior College.

Kerens led 46-28 at halftime. Tanisha Tolliver added eight points for the LadyCats, who have won 11 of their last 12 games.
