CHS Baseball: Grounds, Tigers dominate Ennis 8-3 in season opener

Corsicana —





Holden Grounds allowed one hit in six innings as the Tigers opened the baseball season with an 8-3 victory over rival Ennis at Price Field.

The senior right-hander didn't allowed any earned runs. He had eight strikeouts.

The Tigers rallied from a 3-2 deficit in the bottom of the fourth. Ben Goodrich, Bobby Lopez and Layton Wolver had consecutive hits to tie the game.

Zane Otten then had an RBI sacrafice fly for a 4-3 lead. Brady Harlan had a two-run single for a 6-3 lead. Trevor Nolen walked with the bases loaded for a 7-3 lead. And Zach Rash had a sacrifice fly to make it 8-3.

Jeremy Fowler got the three outs for the win. Reid Folmar had a diving catch for the first out in the inning.

Wolver and Lopez each had two hits to pace the Tigers.
