PLAYERS TO WATCH: Bosqueville: WR J.T. Antis, QB C.J. Collins, DE Tyler Wilkerson, OL/DL Trent Andrews. Hubbard: RB/LB Trey Henderson, WR/DB Logan McClinton, OL/DL Kez Williams, OL/DL Kenyon Mathis, LB Jordan Johnson.

UPDATE: Bosqueville crushed Bartlett 51-14 last Thursday in the HOT Kickoff Classic at Waco ISD Stadium ... Hubbard was impressive in a 57-0 thumping of Rice at home ...The Jaguars surprised the Bulldogs 22-15 in last year’s season opener ... the teams are meeting for the seventh consecutive year with Bosqueville holding a 4-2 edge ... Bulldogs WR J.T. Antis piled up 190 all-purpose yards last week and had 3 TDs ... Hubbard senior All-State RB Bradley Walker rolled up 308 yards rushing and had 3 TDs in three quarters against Rice ... Both squads broke in new QBs with Casen Martin for Hubbard and C.J. Collins for Bosqueville ...  the Jags’ defense held Rice to minus yardage in the second half and surrendered just 75 yards total offense ...

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Frost:  LB/K Edgar Anaya, DT Milko Bruce, FB/LB Woody Woods, RB/DB Robert Worley.  Alba-Golden:  FB Will Ayers, LB Brett Chrapowiski, WR Kyle Miller, RB Thomas Weissert.

UPDATE: LB Andrew Jackson, S Jacob Stroder, and DE Julius Gray each had fumble recoveries last week that led to 22 points in Frost’s 42-19 victory … Gray’s recovery stopped a Chico drive at the Frost 1 yard line in the 4th quarter.  Three plays later RB Danial Steels broke off right tackle galloping 88 yards for a touchdown … Steels’ 218 total yards and 4 TDs (154 rushing, 64 receiving) led the Bears 402 total yards attack ... Worley had 93 yards rushing and 1 TD … Bruce recorded the Bears’ first sack…Woods had 8 tackles and a pass breakup … Panthers coach Gary Schultz led Alba-Golden into the playoffs last year for their first playoff berth since 1988 … last week, Alba-Golden’s Power-I ran over Cumby 41-13 ... Weissert ran 20 times for 136 yards and 2 TDs.  Ayers added 138 yards and 3 TDs on 13 carries,

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Edgewood: RB Tyler Folsom, LB Nathan Denson, DL Zach Hughes, QB Ryan Brown. Rice: WR/DB Eric Hughes, WR/DB Junior Pena, OL/DE Justin Smith, TE/LB Noah McBryde.

UPDATE: Rice opened the Jerry Baldridge era with a loss at Golden Circle power Hubbard, while Eustace lost at home to 3A Canton … its the first meeting between these two Bulldogs … both teams feature a running back coming off a stellar season ... Ragan Henderson led Rice with 1,118 yards and 13 TDs, while Eustace’s Tyler Folsom had over 1,600 yards and 18 TDs … Henderson finished last week with only 47 yards before leaving the game in the second quarter … the Rice defense, behind LB Chris Atchley and S Codie Pair, will have to slow down the Eustace ground game, which totaled 366 yards last week … Rice utilized a two-quarterback platoon, using both Pike and Austin Peppers … QB Ryan Brown only completed one pass last week, but made two field goals and an extra point to account for over half of Eustace’s points.

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Mildred: RB/S Jeremy Ballard, L Danny Hanna, WR Jase Butler, WR/CB Raleigh Seilheimer. Centerville: RB/DE Jamal High, OL/LB Tyler Brown, RB/DB Ryan Payne, L Kurtis Parker.

UPDATE: Both teams are coming off blowout wins; Mildred beat Como-Pickton, 51-7, and Centerville beat Grapeland, 47-18. The teams led by 37 and 41, respectively, at the half … Butler missed the first week of two-a-days but made it to camp and had 2 catches for 38 yards and a TD last week … Seilheimer snared a team-high 6 catches for 77 yards and a TD … the Eagles allowed 332 yards rushing (6.8 per carry), which could be a concern against a Centerville team deep at RB and OL … the Tigers led 41-0 at the half, and 47-6 headed into the fourth last week … High shared time in the backfield, but was district MVP in 2011 (15 TDs, team’s best defender) … the Tigers were 8-3 district champions a year ago, and lost to Corrigan-Camden in the area round of the playoffs.

PLAYERS TO WATCH: Blooming Grove: QB/S Jayd Kirby, RB/DB Brandon Hays, RB/LB Ben Nicholson, OL/DL Anthony Black. Dallas Gateway: Michael Jimmerson QB, Robert Overstreet RB, Tavion Cargill WR, Byron Lynch LB.

UPDATE: The Lions roared to a 33-8 win over Red Oak Life in their season opener, rolling up 477 yards of total offense, including 341 rushing … QB Kirby rushed for 152 yards and a TD on 19 carries and he was also 8-of-16 passing for 136 yards ... Kirby connected with Hays on a 35-yard TD pass, while Hays also rushed for two TDs, finishing with 63 yards on seven carries … BG’s defense gave up 42 total yards and recorded a safety ... Nicholson and Black had five tackles each and Kirby had an interception … Jimmerson was 7-of-10 passing for 128 yards and 2 TDs, leading Gateway to a 64-6 win over Lakehill Prep ... Cargill caught both TD passes, finishing with 65 yards receiving … Overstreet rushed 10 times for 108 yards and two TDs … Lynch had 7 tackles, a sack and an interception.

PLAYERS TO WATCH: TCA-Waco: QB Jonah Erbe, WR/MLB Hunter Daniels, WR Quentin Dancer, RB/LB Ian Baker, C Blake Crenshaw. Wortham: QB Witty Busby, RB Kyle Goerner, DB Micah McCord, DT Cameron Lewis, WR/DB Chris Lee.   

UPDATE: Wortham looks for its first win after getting blanked by Dallas First Baptist 52-0 ... turnovers were the big problem for the Bulldogs, who had seven giveaways ... the Bulldogs had 11 fumbles, losing four ... First Baptist scored 4 TDs in a 6-minute span in the second quarter to put Wortham away in the first game for new Bulldogs coach Shane Doege ... Goerner led the Bulldogs with 42 yards on 10 carries ...  Texas Christian has merged with Parkview Christian ... TCA lost its opener last week at Milano 45-0 ... TCA’s head coach Joey Crenshaw and his coaching staff move over from Parkview ... TCA lost to Frost last year 44-26 ... Baker rushed for 60 yards in the loss to Milano ... TCA had 175 total yards and gave up more then 400 to Milano.
