Navarro baseball, softball teams crack preseason rankings

Corsicana — Navarro's baseball and softball teams both cracked the preseason NJCAA rankings Thursday which should make for an interesting spring for the Bulldogs.

The Lady Bulldogs, who went 35-20 last season, are ranked. No. 15 in the preseason poll. Region XIV rival Blinn is ranked No. 2 in the nation.

"That's something for our girls to have a little pride in," Navarro coach Jessica Karenke said. "But what matter is how you finish the season."

The Bulldogs baseball team is ranked No 16 in the preseason poll after finishing last season with a 38-21 record. Region XIV rival San Jacinto, which knocked off the defending national champion Bulldogs in last year's regional final, is ranked No. 6 in the NJCAA preseason poll.

"It's always good to be ranked," Navarro baseball coach Whoa Dill said. "These guys think they're better than No. 16. Now they get to prove it."
