ALBA-GOLDEN — —
Opportunity lost. Opportunity gained. In the end, Frost improved to 2-0 with a 29-16 victory over Alba-Golden.
The Frost Polar Bears missed a chance to take the lead going into halftime. The Bears drove 44 yards in 52 seconds, but the clock expired after a 6-yard Jacob Stroder run to the 1 yard line.
In the third quarter, Stroder fumbled at the line of scrimmage on third down and 2 at the Alba-Golden 48 yard line. The ball squirted left down the line. Danial Steels picked it up and ran 48 yards for the go ahead touchdown.
The Bears defense twice stopped Alba-Golden deep in their own territory. In the second quarter an Alba-Golden drive stalled on fourth down and goal at the 5-yard line with an incomplete pass. The key to the stand was a Steels tackle for a loss on Thomas Weissert on third down.
