Corsicana —
The youth of the Lady Tigers showed up again Thursday morning in a 51-47 loss to Terrelll in their opening game of the Janie Biltz Classic at Tiger Gym.
Turnovers, poor shooting and an inability to get back on defense and stop transition layups cost the Lady Tigers in a game they mostly trailed throughout the second half.
Corsicana (1-2) led 27-25 at halftime. But Terrell surged out to a 37-33 before Destini Lunsford and Calae Wilson combined on three straight hoops to give Corsicana a 39-37 lead with 6:48 left in the game.
Terrell immediately went on a 9-2 run to take back control of the game. The Lady Tigers closed the gap to 46-42 on a free throw by Briana Biltz with 2:26 left, but Terrell went on another mini 5-0 run to clinch the victory.
Corsicana won 50-45 over Dallas Chrsitian in the Lady Tigers’ second tournament game of the day. Erica Melendez had 18 points and Calae Wilson added 14 points.
