HS Cross Country: BG boys dominate 23-2A meet

Rice boys, BG, Mildred girls advance to regionals

Blooming Grove’s boys had seven of the top eight finishers in the District 23-2A cross country meet Monday, leading a strong Golden Circle contingent into regionals.

Rice’s boys took second place, while on the girls side Blooming Grove and Mildred had teams advance to regionals on Nov. 3 in Humble.

Hunter and Skylar Hawkins ran one-two in the varisty boys 3.1 mile run. Hunter had a time of 18:09.9 and Skyler a time of 18:16.4. Tyler Baumgartner was third with a time of 18:23.3 and Daniel Pelzel was fourth at 18:32.4. Wes Tipping (18:38.3), Cole Harris (18:53.3) and Richard Conger (18:59.7) completed seven Blooming Grove runners that came in under 19 minutes.

Conner Roberts was Rice’s top finisher at 19:14.9. Frank Robles (19:33.3), John Zellar (20:06.8) and Daniel Vasquez helped the Rice boys qualify as a team for regionals.

Xaxier Fuqua (20:33.) and Justin Jenkins (20:38.7) were the top finishers for Mildred.

On the girls side, Pressley Atkeisson and Jesse Devries were the top two finishers over the two-mile course. Atkeisson ran a 12:57.3 and Devries a 13:09.7.

Mildred’s Maddie Moore was third with a time of 13:26.4 and Kayle Muncy was ninth at 14:22.6.
