Kerens explosive in 54-12 win over Cross Roads

CROSS ROADS — Kerens used an offensive explosion in the first and third quarters to dismantle a game, but undermanned Cross Road Bobcat team.

The Kerens Bobcats rushed for 335 yards and passed for another 162, while Cross Roads was able to break just enough plays to keep them in the game during the first half.

After Nate Betts scored on a 6 yard run in the first quarter, Cross Roads was able to sneak a back out of the backfield for a 15 yard pass from Chad Sherrell to Derek Whiteley to tie the score up early in the game.

Kerens went on a scoring spree where the Bobcats scored five straight touchdowns to take any suspense out of the outcome.

Two interceptions by Kerens in the second quarter seam to put a damper on Cross Roads offense. The first of two  interceptions by Zack Duncan an was returned 47 yards for a touchdown. The second one stopped any chance of a come back by Cross Roads.

After scoring 26points in the third quarter Kerens turned the game over to their subs to keep the game from getting further out of hand.
