ARLINGTON —
Slumping Texas star Josh Hamilton is out of the starting lineup Saturday night against the Chicago White Sox because manager Ron Washington wants to give the outfielder a mental break.
Hamilton is batting .145 in July. The former AL MVP was booed by his home fans Friday night after striking out twice against White Sox ace Chris Sale.
"He's the manager," Hamilton said. "He makes the decisions. I just live with them."
Third baseman Adrian Beltre is batting third in place of Hamilton. Rookie Leonys Martin is starting in left field.
