Itasca rolls Rice, 51-15
The difference: Itasca’s offense gained 523 yards of total offense and eight touchdowns.
Standouts: Itasca QB Greg Mason rushed for 182 yards and five touchdowns, while passing for 192 yards and another score. Preseason All-State RB Desmond Guy rushed for 143 yards on only 13 carries and two scores for the Wampus Cats. Geoffrey Hammonds had a 60-yard touchdown run for the Bulldogs.
Game notes: Rice had a 15-play, 66-yard drive that lasted over seven minutes in the second quarter. The Bulldogs converted two fourth downs to cut Itasca’s lead to 25-15 … Wampus Cat QB Greg Mason was a three out of four passing for 83 yards and a score in the first half. He was even better in the second half, completing eight out of nine passes for 109 yards … Itasca opened the second half with a 12-play drive that used up over half the third quarter … For the second consecutive week, the Bulldogs failed to force a punt.
Stat of the game: Itasca gained over 300 yards of total offense in taking a 32-15 lead at halftime.
