Mildred defeated the Frost Polar Bears Friday night 61-42 to advance to the championship game of the Kiwanis Classic.
The Eagles will play defending champion Kerens in Saturday's final at 7:30 p.m. at the K. and Ida Wolens Special Events Center.
Mildred was led by Nic Shimonek who posted a double-double on the game, scoring 16 while also grabbing 12 rebounds. Jonathan Harrison added 11 of his own and Jase Butler added three 3-pointers to bring his point total to nine for the contest.
The Frost offense was headed by Danial Steels, who also had a double-double. Steels scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds to go with it.
The game was a back and forth contest until late in the second quarter when Mildred went on a 10-0 run and took a 30-21 lead into halftime.
Frost came out of the half and cut the lead to three, but Mildred stayed persistent and brought their lead back into double digits to start the 4th.
It was in the fourth quarter that the Eagles really started pouring it on. They brought their lead to 23 and out scored the Polar Bears 21-13.
