Corsicana —
The Tigers played the state’s only undefeated Class 4A team to a standstill for three quarters before a standing-room only crowd Friday night.
Jacksonville, ranked No. 10 in the state, finally broke away for a 54-44 victory over the Tigers in Jacksonville.
Corsicana (21-8, 3-4) remained in fourth place in District 16-4A. Dzifa Mallet scored 14 points to lead the Tigers. Ernest McGhee and Mike Lewis added nine points.
Jacksonville moved to 30-0 on the season and 7-0 in district. The Tigers will play at John Tyler on Tuesday night.
Lady Tigers lose heartbreaker: Corsicana again played well on the road, but lost to Jacksonville 40-39 on Friday night.
Corsicana fell to 15-17 overall and 1-8 in District 16-4A. Jacksonville moved to 4-5 in district.
