Wortham girls beats Blooming Grove
HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL: ROUNDUP
The Wortham girls basketball team opened the season Friday night with a 47-37 victory over Blooming Grove.
Anna Jones led the way for the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points.
Jodi Thornton added 11, Ki’undrea Smith eight, Lindsey Ranson seven, Lauren Libhart four and Jasmine Bailey three.
Carly Hoosier led Blooming Grove with 15 points. Katie McGraw and Paige Stout added six, Kasey Fischer had four, Adrian Sanneborn had three, Laura Bennett two and Naomi Boyer had a point.
Wortham led 25-13 at halftime.
Hubbard 58, Tolar 52: Jordan Henderson led three Lady Jags in double figures with 16 points as Hubbard opened the season with 58-52 victory over Tolar on Friday night.
Africa Lang and Rayven Cornish each had 14 points.
Iesha Simmons added seven, Alexis Griffin six and Grace Raley had one point for the Lady Jags.
Hubbard trailed 26-22 at halftime, but the Lady Jags rallied to lead after three quarters, 42-39.
Susan Henderson was coaching her first game for the Lady Jags.
Kerens 60, Bruceville Eddy 24: Michelle Jordan scored 12 points and Nicole Kelm added 11 points as the Lady Bobcats opened the season with a 60-24 victory over Bruceville-Eddy on Saturday.
“We played really good defense,” Kerens coach Denise Lincoln said.
