Area Roundup: Coffman notches first win as Hubbard rolls
John Jones scored 24 points as the Hubbard Jaguars tipped off the Brian Coffman era with an easy victory over Meridian.
Hubbard (1-0) raced to a 16-3 lead after the first period, 38-16 at the half and never looked back in the season opener for both teams.
Dae Dae Williams added 12 and Jordon Reinke added 11 for the Jaguars.
Hubbard faces Mildred at 6:30 p.m. Friday, also at home.
Frost 42, Red Oak Life 33
Philip Page scored 24 points and Daniel Steeles added 13 as the Frost won its season opener over Red Oak Life.
The Polar Bears (1-0) led 24-16, at the half, but Life came back to tie it, 28-28 after three. The Polar Bears pulled away in the fourth.
Dawson 41, Aquilla 30
Dustin Sanders paced the Bulldogs with 17 points as they won after one day of practice.
After leading 17-9 at the half, Dawson (1-0) watched its lead whittled to 27-25 through three periods. The Bulldogs broke the game open in the fourth.
The Nicks, Renfro and Warren, added six for the Bulldogs, who had seven players score.

Frost 29, Red Oak Life 20
The Frost Lady Polar Bears (1-0) won 29-20 at home Tuesday against (0-3) Red Oak Life.
Patricia Garcia had 13 points for the Lady Polar Bears. Makayla Hill added 8 points.
