Dozier, Mildred beat Hubbard in OT, 68-67
HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: BOYS ROUNDUP
After taking the game into overtime, the Mildred Eagles defeated the Hubbard Jaguars, 68-67, in Hubbard on Friday night.
Hubbard had a 35-27 lead going into the second half but was unable to hold it for the rest of the game.
Mildred scored 31 of its 68 points in the second half during its comeback.
Headed into overtime, the game was tied 58-58, and Mildred outscored Hubbard 10-9 to win the game.
Kevin Dozier’s 25 points along with Anthony McQuary’s 15, carried the Eagles over Hubbard.
Hubbard’s leading scorers were Isaiah and Andrew Thompson with 22 and 16 points on the night.
Dawson 50, Rice 16
The Dawson Bulldogs defeated Rice, 50-16, Friday night in Dawson.
Dawson had a 27-12 lead at halftime, and the Bulldog defense continued to play strong. Dawson only allowed four points in the second half, which all came in the fourth quarter.
Steven Travis led the Bulldogs in their victory with 12 points, along with Nick Warren who had 10 of his own.
Keith White led Rice with 6 points in the game.
Tyler Grace 37, Frost 31
Tyler Grace Community won, 37-31, Friday night, giving Frost its first loss of the 2009 season.
Tyler Grace took a 20-18 lead into the half and continued to score points until the final buzzer.
Frost scored 18 of its 31 points in the second half, but its comeback was stopped short by Tyler Grace’s defense.
Danial Steels and Phillip Page were the leading scorers for Frost, both tallying 12 points on the night.
