Falcon Thompson pitched a one-hit shutout Tuesday to lead Blooming Grove to an 18-0 win over Marlin in the district opener for both teams.
Thompson pitched all five innings, striking out eight with no walks. She helped her own cause with a three-for-four plate performance, including a pair of doubles. She scored three runs and drove in another.
All nine Lady Lions scored in the contest. Sidney Horner was three for three, scored four rubs and stole three bases.
Hannah Chaffin was three for four with a triple, while Lauren Miller was three for four, including a two-run double. Shelby Beamon abd Rachel East each hit a double in the contest
Riesel 19, Rice 4: Rice fell to Riesel 19-4 on in Tuesday’s district opener. Samantha Harris was 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored and three RBIs.
