CHS Tennis: CHS netters take 6th in Mertz tourney

The Tigers tennis team finished sixth out of 16 teams at this weekend’s Robert D. Mertz Memorial Tournament held on their home courts.

The top finishers for Corsicana were Jonathan Caston and Ben Crocker, who took fourth place in A Boys Doubles; Brandon Levenson and Jacob Middleton, who took fourth place in B Boys Doubles; Autumn Grounds, who was fourth in A Girls Singles; Melany Betancourt, who was third in B Girls Singles and Tyler Schultz, who won the consolation bracket in A Boys Singles.

“Our players competed well but we still have work to do before district,” Tigers coach Chad White said. “We will keep at it and get ready for the Belton Tournament this Friday.”

Corsicana will play in the Big Red Classic on Friday.
