HS Football: Hawkins no longer Dawson football coach

Search will begin this week for replacement

Dawson athletic director and football coach Scott Hawkins has resigned his position, and a search for his replacement will begin this week.

The Dawson ISD school board met Monday night and approved an exit agreement for Hawkins, who will remain as athletic director and football coach until his replacement is hired.

“We’ll look for the best candidate for our district,” Dawson superintendent Stacy Henderson said Tuesday.

Henderson said the AD/football coach job will be posted this week. It will be left open for 20 to 30 days, or until several good applicants apply. The hiring could take 30 to 45 days, Henderson said.

Hawkins coached at Dawson for six years, taking the Bulldogs to the playoffs in 2008, 2009 and 2010. His final record at Dawson is 23-41.
