Hubbard dominates Wortham, 46-0

HUBBARD — The Hubbard Jaguars showed no ill effects from their bye week as they raced out to a 38-0 halftime lead enroute to a 46-0 shutout over the visiting Wortham Bulldogs.

Hubbard (6-2, 2-0) remained atop the District 9-1A DII standings with their second district win by dominating play on both sides of the ball and scoring on a safety, an interception return and a 50-yard pass while adding four more tds on the ground.

The Jags were led by Trey Henderson who rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns and Bradley Walker with 93 yards and one score while quarterback Casen Martin added 44 yards and another score. D’Warren Simmons scored twice for Hubbard, once on a 38-yard interception return and again when he hauled in a 50-yard pass from Martin for the game’s final score.

Despite the loss, Wortham (3-6, 1-2) remained in the hunt for a playoff spot which they can claim with a win over Dawson in their final game of the season on Nov. 9.

Hubbard continues district play at Dawson next week while the Bulldogs have the district’s bye.

Bo Moore lives by the run. He likes to put pressure on the opponent. A three-run seventh looked like just enough cushion in a five-run game. But it wasn’t.
