Corsicana names new interim Athletic Director

Corsicana —

Bo Jones, a West Texas native with two state championship rings and a successful business career, was named as Corsicana ISD’s interim Athletic Director on Tuesday.

Jones is replacing Dr. Joe Young on an interim basis until Superintendent Dr. Diane Frost selects the new, Executive Director for Extracurricular Programs. Jones’ stay in Corsicana is undetermined but will be at least through the fall sports season.

Dr. Young, who was the district’s AD and UIL coordinator for two years, was recently moved to the central office to assume the responsibilities of the  Assistant Superintendent of Special Programs.

“Coach Jones has served as a head coach of almost every sport at both the middle and high school levels,” Dr. Frost said. “He and his wife Dr. Leigh Ann Jones, live in Frisco where she is the Coordinator for Library Services for that district’s 52 schools.

“I look forward to you meeting Coach Jones. I believe that you will enjoy working with him. He will make sure that the athletic department runs smoothly and he will make sure that our students are supported academically and in their extracurricular programs.”

Jones had coaching stops in Rule, Honey Grove and Stanford before taking over as head football coach and athletic director at Pottsboro in his second stop at the school. Jones was on the coaching staff of Southlake Carroll teams that won state titles in 1992-93.

Jones left the coaching business in 1996 when he became a regional sales manager for Interstate Batteries. He became a project manager in the wireless industry in 1999 before he formed his own consulting firm for wireless businesses starting in 2008.

“I’m very glad to be here in Corsicana,” Jones said. “Dr. Young has done a terrific job financially with the athletic department. I’m looking forward to working with coaches this fall as our student-athletes have a lot of success.”
