CHS Baseball: Melton tabbed second-team 4A All-State

Corsicana — Hunter Melton was tabbed as a second-team Class 4A All-State selection by the Texas Sports Writers Association. The team, sponsored by Collin Street Bakery, was released on Friday.

Melton was also a second-team All-State selection by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.

“It’s a great accomplishment to make second-team all-state as a junior,” Melton said. “Out of all the good players in the state of Texas I was one of the players selected. It’s a great feeling to know I was one of those guys.”

Melton was a second-team pick at third base. He batted .573 with 10 home runs, 16 doubles and 41 RBIs.

Melton was the Offensive Player of the Year in 15-4A.

 

2011 TSWA Class 4A All-State Baseball Team

BRYAN --  Wichita Falls Rider pitcher Cameron Allen was voted the player of the year on the Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association’s Class 4A All-State Baseball Team.

He was 13-2 on the mound with a 1.17 earned run average and the senior, who played shortstop when not pitching, batted .478 with 52 runs batted in for the state champs.

  • Navarro Baseball: Sutton, Autrey commit to Lamar

    The Navarro Bulldogs continue to be a pipeline to Division I baseball programs.
    Outfielder Jake Sutton and pitcher J.T. Autrey verbally committed to Lamar University, totaling six Navarro sophomores to sign or commit off this year’s team which made it to the championship game of the Region XIV Tournament.

    Navarro College and Corsicana High School will host an All-Star Baseball Camp June 4-6 at Corsicana High School.
    The camp is for ages 6 through 16 years old. Each day’s session will go from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
