GC Softball: Lady Jags show experience in victory
Depending on where your scales tilt, Tuesday’s playoff game might have been considered a battle of experience, or one decided on making plays.
Realistically, it was a mixture of both, as Hubbard topped Frost, 7-1, in the Region II-1A bi-district playoffs. -
CHS Baseball: Tigers, Indians lace them up again
By now we know all of the storylines that involve a Corsicana-Waxahachie baseball showdown. The Indians coach, Tracy Wood, used to be the Tigers coach. Corsicana coach Heath Autrey graduated from Waxahachie. The Tigers and Indians are on-again, off-again district companions. They have a long-standing rivalry.

GC Baseball: Blooming Grove tops Mildred, 3-2, in seeding playoff (UPDATED to add BG series)
Blooming Grove defeated Mildred Monday, 3-2, to clinch second place in District 23-2A. The two teams had finished the regular season tied.

Rice’s Henderson second in discus at regional meet
Rice’s Ragan Henderson will be ending his stellar athletic career in Austin. The senior finished second in the Region II-2A discus with a throw of 157-2.

NC Baseball: Bulldogs split with San Jac on Monday, Paris on Saturday
Navarro has joined San Jacinto as a team to beat every year at the Region XIV Tournament, which comes up next weekend. The Bulldogs hope to get a psychological advantage on Monday. They came away with a push instead. Navarro and San Jacinto split a doubleheader, with the Bulldogs winnning the opener, 6-2, and the Gators getting the nightcap, 1-0.

Hines signs with defending Super Bowl champs
Former Tigers all-state wide receiver Omarius Hines signed a free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens, multiple news sources in Florida have reported. Hines played at the University of Florida.

GC Track: Frost girls win regional title, boys third
Both the Frost girls and boys will be well-represented at the state track meet May 10-11 in Austin. The Lady Bears won last week’s regional meet, while the boys came in third.

Area schedule: Tigers baseball series set
Corsicana baseball's bi-district playoff series is set. The Tigers and Indians will play Game 1 Wednesday in Ennis at 7 p.m., Game 2 at 7 p.m. Friday in Waxahachie, and Game 3, if necessary, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at home. Here is the rest of the Golden Circle schedule this week, subject to change as we learn more about playoff pairings.

CHS Track: Gilfillan, Mallet headed to state
The Tigers will have representation in Austin in two weeks. Noah Gilfillan and Dzifa Mallett made sure of that.
