Corsicana —
Friends of Jack Albritton have decided to defy the heat and host a golf tournament to raise money for Albritton’s family.
Albritton, 47, has been diagnosed with stage four brain cancer, and he’s been given an estimated 10 months to live.
Albritton is a truck driver who had just changed jobs when he got he diagnosis, according to Jaye Knott, a friend who’s helping organize the benefit. Because he had just changed jobs, he doesn’t have health insurance. Suffering from seizures, Jack needs 24 hour care, so his wife, Lisa, quit her job to care for him and to drive him to treatments almost every day in Dallas, Knott said.
“It will be November before they receive a disability payment,” Knott stated.
The golf tournament will be July 30 at Oak Trail Golf Course in Corsicana, and tee times will be at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The entry fee is $200 for a four-person scramble team. Tee times are first-come, first-served.
Hole sponsorships are available, and barbecue plates will also be sold that day during the event, Knott said.
“We need briskets, sausages, ribs or any meat for the grill. Breads, side dishes and condiments are needed as well as drinking water,” she stated.
A putting contest, and raffle tickets are also being conducted that day to raise more money.
For more information on the event, call Jaye Knott at (903) 641-0289.
