Tara Victoria Davis and Derick Brandon Price were married at 6 p.m. May 30, 2009 in a double ring ceremony at The Halbert House. The bride is the daughter of Jerry and Margaret Davis of Corsicana, and the groom is the son of Herman and Doretta Martin of DeSoto, and Dwight Price of Corsicana.
Matrons of honor were Lindsay Hale, sister of the bride from New Orleans; Addie Moehring of Fort Bragg, best friend of the bride; and bridesmaids were Aimee Bailes, Katherine Worley, and Gabbie Lewis, all of Corsicana. Two of the five bridesmaids wore one-shoulder eggplant-colored long, flowing dresses with a satin bust and cascading back while the other three bridesmaids wore sleeveless eggplant-hued long, flowing gowns with satin straps and waist. All the bridesmaids carried bouquets that coordinated with the bridal bouquet.
Jay Williams and Caleb Marx, both best friends of the groom from Corsicana, both served as the best men. Groomsmen were Hudson Marx, Mark Mayfield and Keith Leerskov, all of Corsicana. The groom wore a Calvin Klein black tuxedo with a diamond white vest, tie and pocket square. The groomsmen and ring bearers also wore Calvin Klein tuxedos, but with eggplant-hued vest, tie and pocket squares. The groom and his groomsmen all wore coral calla lily boutonnieres.
Flower girls were Paige Ball, bride’s cousin, and Savannah Whittington, niece of the groom. Both wore simple ivory satin long dresses with beaded eggplant-colored shawls and bows.
The ring bearers were Tyler Farmer, cousin of the bride, and Cade Gannon, also bride’s cousin.
Ushers were Sammy Lattner, Dylan Bruce, Jonah Coley and Chris Harrelson. Dr. Rick Lamb officiated the wedding ceremony.
The bride and groom were married at the historical Halbert House, the lawn graced with lovely satin-covered chairs with delicately tied eggplant-colored bows. The porch, where the couple exchanged their vows, held ferns on each side, and along the walking path laid iron arbors full of brightly filled flowers. Guests were greeted by more floral arrangements which held mixtures of stargazer lilies, hydrangeas, irises, roses, orchids and calla lilies, predominantly in the shades of eggplant, coral and ivory.
The bride wore an ivory strapless, sweetheart, champagne beaded and lace bodice gown which featured a taffeta ball gown, pickup skirt and chapel-length train. She also wore a fingertip-length elegant ivory one-tier veil featuring a metallic pencil edge an delicate lace-embroidered flowers. Tara carried a large bouquet of stargazer lilies, roses, calla lilies and irises, with handkerchiefs of her late grandmother wrapped around the stems. She arrived at the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage, where her father awaited her.
The bride and her father made their way down the aisle to Cannon in D and the scripture reading was from 1 Corinthians 13. Wesley Ball, cousin of the bride, sang “I Do.” After the couple exchanged their vows, the recessional was “Now I’m a Believer.”
Following the wedding, the guests were invited to enjoy appetizers and view the beautiful home, while family and the wedding party did photographs. The couple made their grand entry to the reception in a bright red 1941 Chevrolet which the uncle of the groom restored.
The reception was held under candle lit tents on the back lawn of The Halbert House. Guests’ tables were decorated in ivory satin tablecloths with eggplant-colored table toppers along with ivory satin chair covers and eggplant bows. Each table was adorned with beautiful centerpieces of deep purple, coral, ivory and sage colors, using hydrangeas, calla lilies, stargazer lilies, irises, roses, daisies and orchids, along with crystals and candles.
For the reception meal, the wedding party and guests enjoyed several food stations, which featured deep southern foods, fajitas, one for children, and a Marble Slab ice cream station.
The bridal cake was a large two-tiered wedding cake with decorative scroll covering each layer. Large purple hydrangeas surrounded the bottom of the cake, between each tier and topped off with hydrangeas. The groom’s cake was a two-tier chocolate cake with chocolate-covered strawberries and topped off with a hunting bear. The cake table was adorned with three large vases of different types of flowers.
The bride and groom, along with friends and family, danced the night away to their favorite music. When it was time to depart for their honeymoon to Disney World, the couple walked down the walkway under huge sparklers.
Derick and Tara will now make their home in Corsicana.
A special thanks to Mrs. Jill Marshal and Mrs. Sue Thompson for hosting a beautiful garden brunch the morning of the wedding, and the couple also thanks all friends and family who made their wedding day one to remember.
