Corsicana —
Joanna Sue Heard, and Derek Oliver Smith were united in marriage on March 20, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Corsicana. The Rev. Danilo Ramos officiated the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of John and Joyce Heard of Corsicana; granddaughter of Arthur and Rosalee Scheller of Poseyville, Ind., and the late Robert and Berla Heard.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Benjamin Smith, of Friendswood; grandson of Sharon Oliver of Kingwood and the late Glen Dale Oliver, Benjamin Smith Sr., June Gibson Smith, and Thelma Smith.
For her wedding, Joanna chose a classic satin bridal gown by Allure. The strapless, beautifully embellished bodice was adorned with Swarovski crystals. The waistline was accented with a soft, satin ribbon and bow. The back of the A-line skirt featured satin covered buttons all the way down the back of the skirt to the chapel-length train.
Jennifer Heard served as maid of honor, and Jaclyn Roman was the matron of honor, both sisters of the bride. Bridesmaids were Britni Haskin, Amy Dresch, and Megan Wathen, cousin of the bride.
Dustin Smith, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Jay Heard, brother of the bride, Kevin Franks, Charlie Browning, and Danny Warshaur.
Chris Roman, brother-in-law of the bride, and Duane Buckley, served as ushers. Eddie Ruesewald was the organist/soloist.
The wedding was followed by a dinner and dancing at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Ennis.
The House party consisted of Carolyn Scheller, Kathy Black, Sarah Hisch, Kimberly Will, Carolyn Bender, Lindsey Brown, and Jennifer Harbinson. Guestbook attendant was Claire Stitt.
The couple honeymooned in Antigua, and now reside in Houston.

Emily Ann Bates and Daniel Keith Hanzus were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. on May 12, 2012 in an outside ceremony at The Vista on Seward Hill in Austin, Texas. Officiating the ceremony were Kenneth Bates, cousin to the bride and the Honorable Phillip Zeigler with scripture reading by Matthew Price. A cocktail hour, dinner and dancing followed at the venue. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Stubb's Barbeque; also in Austin.
