Danika Herod and Aaron Watson were united in marriage at 4 p.m. on Sept. 17, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Blooming Grove with Brother Grady Cashion officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jack and Lee Ann Herod of Barry, granddaughter of George Ann and Al Grant of Waco, Johnny Missildine of Blooming Grove, and Bettie Herod of Barry. Her nanny is Donna Phillips of Blooming Grove.
The groom is the son of Janet Watson of Frost and Joey Watson of Mertens. He is the grandson of Lee and Linda Dearen of Corbet and Dwayne and Pat Watson of Mertens.
The church was decorated with six columns and a big cascading spray of fresh flowers along with Boston ferns. Smaller columns with ferns and candles lined the backdrop for the ceremony.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride entered wearing a fitted ivory strapless gown embellished with beaded ivory lace. The bride wore a beaded, ivory fingertip tulle veil. She carried an orange, lime green and coral flowing bouquet of proteas, roses, bells of Ireland, Hypericums, peonies and hydrangeas.
Special music was provided by Cort Andrews, who sang “I Love You This Big” and was accompanied by Kenneth Hutchison and Misti Hutchison.
Candle lighters were Riggin Barham of Lubbock and Rocky Barham of Blooming Grove, lifelong friends of the bride.
Matron of honor was Elizabeth Cook of Frisco and Becca Herod of Hubbard. Bridesmaids were Brittany Blackmon of Harlingen, Meredith Richards of Waco, and Senee Foster of Lubbock. Attendants wore above the knee dresses in black silk organza. They carried hand tied bouquets with flowers echoing the bride’s bouquet. Flower girl was Lexi Watson, niece of the groom.
Ring Bearer and honorary groomsmen were Case Watson, Cole Watson, and Waylon Watson, nephews of the groom.
The groom was attended by best men Jordan Golden of Corsicana, and Zack Robinson of Round Rock. Groomsmen were Coleman Campbell of Frost and David and Nick Watson of Mertens.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the fellowship hall. The bride’s cake was a four square tiered traditional white cake with fondant and butter cream icing with a “W” crystal monogram topper.
The groom’s cake consisted of three staggered round red velvet cakes with cream cheese icing with sliced strawberries mixed in a strawberry glaze.
Members of the house party were Val Andrews, Misti Hutchison, Brenna Farley and Marcy Moran.
The newly wedded couple departed through a shower of bubbles for a seven day honeymoon in Maui, Hawaii.
Danika is employed at Children’s Medical Center as a Pediatric ICU nurse, and pursuing her master’s degree in Nurse Administration from Texas Tech University. Aaron is an Operations Manager at Helena Chemical Company. The couple will reside in Waxahachie, Texas.

Officiating the ceremony were Kenneth Bates, cousin to the bride and the Honorable Phillip Zeigler with scripture reading by Matthew Price. A cocktail hour, dinner and dancing followed at the venue. On the eve of the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom's parents at Stubb's Barbeque; also in Austin.
