Harper/Knapp Wedding
Miss Caroline Harper and Mr. Frederick Knapp III were united in marriage on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 7 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Corsicana. The candlelight double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. James Beverley and the Rev. Darla Blatnik. Music for the ceremony was provided by Cindy McCary of Corsicana with vocals by Micah Lee Blackwell of Dallas. The scripture readings were given by Colleen Elizabeth Engen of Houston. Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a dinner reception at Corsicana Country Club with entertainment by Signed, Sealed and Delivered of Dallas.
On the eve of the wedding, the couple enjoyed toasts by family and friends at a rehearsal dinner a The Cook Center Museum hosted by the groom’s parents. On her wedding day, Caroline and her bridesmaids were feted with a bridesmaids brunch given by Corsicana friends and on Sunday morning, following the wedding, departing guests enjoyed brunch at the Victorian-style Halbert House hosted by Houston friends of the groom’s family.
Caroline is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Harper III of Corsicana. She is the granddaughter of Dr. and Mrs. John L. Harper of Corsicana and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Eugene McDaniel of Texarkana.
Fred is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Maedgen Knapp Jr. of Houston, and he is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Maedgen Knapp of Houston. He is also the grandson of Mrs. Vencie Knox of Crockett and the late Mr. W.H. Knox.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride selected an elegant silk organza strapless gown embellished with embroidered ribbon, Swarovski crystals, cut silk flowers and bows by Melissa Sweet. She carried a bouquet of roses and calla lilies, a family Bible which was also carried by her maternal grandmother, mother and 11 family members at their weddings, and an antique monogrammed handkerchief given to her by the groom’s mother. In her left shoe, Caroline placed an English sixpence brought from London by the groom’s grandparents.
Serving as matron of honor was Caroline’s sister, Sarah Harper Lentz of Corsicana. The bridesmaids were Emily Knapp Behrens, sister of the groom; Kimberly Marie Crockett, and Abigail Ann Mayo, all of Houston; Ellen Anne Campbell of Corsicana; Dorian Elizabeth Knapp, sister of the groom, of Frederick, Maryland; Sara Eileen Lewis of Dallas; Leslie Tipping Pierce of Rockwall; Candace Michelle Powers of Round Rock; and Cassie Elizabeth Sammon of Tucson, Arizona. Flower girls were Caroline’s nieces, Miss Madeline Elizabeth Lentz and Miss Caroline Ellis Lentz. Honor attendants were Katie Duff Conroy, Jennifer Lynn Frank, and Georgia Diane Frondorf, all of Houston; and Olivia Lucille Thomas of Los Angeles.
Serving as best man was Fred’s father, Frederick Maedgen Knapp Jr. of Houston. Groomsmen included Patrick Ryan Conroy, Eric Joseph Doyal, Jerry Richard O’Toole, Robert Brent Riley, Kenneth Paul Roden, and Taylor Stephenson Wright, all of Houston; Grayson Cole Gearhart of El Paso; Ryan Stewart Sims of Dallas; John Walter Harper, brother of the bride, of Lubbock; and Matthew Charles Sawtelle of San Antonio. Ushers were Jonathan Ryan Lankford, Michael James Preisler, and Erich Lloyd Sowell of Houston; Michael Chad Sullivan, cousin of the groom, of Georgetown; and Kyle Justin Wayne of Evanston, Indiana.
Caroline is a graduate of Corsicana High School and a 2006 graduate of Texas A&M University where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing, and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She is currently employed with Neiman Marcus in Dallas as an assistant buyer.
Frederick graduated from Memorial High School and is a 2005 Cum Laude graduate of Texas A&M University where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting and Finance, and was a member of Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. Shortly after graduation, Fred completed his CPA and is presently an associate with Crow Holdings in Dallas.
Following their honeymoon to the island of Kauai, Hawaii, Fred and Caroline will make their home in Dallas.
