Emily Beth Halley and Richard Auldin Rodenbeck Jr. were united in marriage at 6:30 p.m. on October 10, 2009 at Pearl Valley Estates on Richland Chambers Reservoir in Powell, Texas. The lakeside, double ring ceremony was officiated by George Procter-Smith of Corsicana, who is a respected teacher and mentor of the bride. The couple married under an archway of grapevine and fall flowers.
Emily is the daughter of John David and Donna King of Corsicana, and the late Terry Halley of Clarksville, Texas. She is the granddaughter of the late Elmer Collins, Betty Collins, the late Mac Halley and Mary Ruth Halley, all of Clarksville.
R.J. is the son of Richard and Vickie Jo Rodenbeck and Vickie Channel of Canon City, Colorado. He is the grandson of Ed and Marie Rodenbeck of Canon City.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, John King, the bride entered to the song, “In Your Love” by Rhett Akins. She wore a flowing ivory, spaghetti strapped A-line gown. She carried a bouquet of red, orange and yellow roses with hypericum berries, secured with brown ribbon. She also had miniature ivory roses placed in her hair.
The groom wore a chocolate brown western shirt with jeans and boots. He wore an orange rose boutonniere with hypericum berries.
The matron of honor was Amy Bennett Estes of Melissa, Texas. She wore a sleeveless, two-piece gown in persimmon and carried a bouquet of sunflowers. The best man was Randy Martin of Palestine, who is a friend of the groom and a fellow mason, and he was dressed in the same attire as the groom.
Following the ceremony, approximately 60 close friends and family members celebrated the new couple with an outdoor dinner reception, which included a fireworks display. The tables were draped in satin cloths in red and chocolate brown, and were decorated with fall mums and softly lit candles. Alisia Greer with Three Sisters made both cakes. The bridal cake was a three-tier square, amaretto-flavored cake with chocolate frosting, and it was decorated with red, orange and yellow roses, as well as hypericum berries provided by Blossoms Floral. The groom’s cake was strawberry-flavored and was in the shape of a motorcycle. Jeremy Pereira, a close friend of the bride, took wedding photographs.
Friends and family members were present from Texas, Colorado, Arizona and Indiana.
Emily is a 2006 graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and political science. She is currently employed as an investigator for Child Protective Services in Anderson County. The groom is a 2003 graduate of Canon City High School. He is currently employed as a lieutenant of corrections for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Following the wedding, the couple honeymooned at a private cabin in Beavers Bend, Okla. and Little Rock, Ark. They are at home in Tennessee Colony, Texas.
